C.O.M.E Ministry
(College Outreach Ministry & Evangelism)
The college Outreach, Ministry, and Evangelism group continues to grow in numbers and be a great ministry opportunity to the college and young adult age groups in our community. We have had the privilege of ministrering to students from Hesston College, Tabor College, Bethel College, Wichita State and Newman University. It has been a blessing for us who attempt to lead this group to see young people who exhibit such a passion for life and take their relationship with Christ seriously. I continue to be impressed by our "own" college/young adult age group ~ the ones who grew up in this church. They are our core group and their willingness to welcome guests, their spiritual maturity, and their faithfulness is a blessing.
We held our first lunch for this group Sunday, September 16 and had between 30-40 students attend! The C.O.M.E Sunday School class has started the Truth Project video series and is averaging about 25 each Sunday. We will continue to provide monthly lunches after the second service and are planning on providing Saturday morning breakfasts as well as other special events throughout the year.
I owe a big "Thank you" to Roy and Connie Horton, Marla Will, and Jeannette Jantz who do all the planning and preparation for the meals and exhibit the gift of hospitality to these students.
We would like to extend and offer and a ministry opportunity to the Community Life groups of the church ~ would you be interested in helping to provide Sunday meals for this group? If the answer is "Yes" then here's the "catch" ~ if your group decides to help provide a meal, your group has to stay and have lunch with us. We want you to get to know these young people and we want them to get to know you. If your group is interesed in providing a sunday meal Contact Connie Horton (283-6405), Marla Will (316-217-1709) or Jeannette Jantz (283-9009)
Please pray for these students. Many come from long distances (even other countries) to attend school and face the challenges of being away from home and everything familiar as well as the challenges of learning to live out their faith in the world.
